History
Anambra State was
created on the 3rd of February, 1977. It was one
of the two states carved out of the former East
Central State.
On August 27,
1991, Enugu State was created out of Anambra
State and its capital was moved to Awka.
The state derives it name from the Anambra river
which runs north to south through the state.
