Location
Jigawa State shares boundaries with Yobe State
to the East, Kano State to the West, Bauchi
State to the South, and Republic of Niger to the
North.
History
Jigawa State was
carved out of Kano State on 27th August, 1991.
Agriculture
The people of the
state are mainly farmers. Food crops produced
include maize, millet and guinea corn, cash
crops like cotton and groundnut are also
produced.
Livestock is also
an important aspect of the economy of the state.
Large numbers of cattle are reared in the state.
There are so many
industrial enterprises in the state and these
industries operate mostly with raw materials
produced locally. These are in form of
agriculture and livestock.
Education
he state gives
priority attention to education of its people.
There are numerous primary and post-primary
institutions as well as technical and teacher's
colleges in the state. The state could be
reached either by road or rail.
