GETTING AROUND
BY ROAD
If you go to Nigeria,
and don't already have a way to get around
locally, the next easiest way to get around would
probably be to hire a taxi driver.
Another option is to get a driver once you get
there, these are sometimes available at the
hotels. Also, Nigerian Galleria has a section on
car hire rates but at this time (7/31/98) they are
only from the Lagos Airport. Other airports may or
may not have similar services.
Also, sometimes you can get tours by roads that
will allow you to see the country, and where the
driver will explain some of the places he is
driving through. These are available by luxury
buses, mini-buses, touring saloon cars, and vary
in price and quality.
If you plan on renting a car, I have not found
many resources online. I did find a link at FinDat.com
that may soon have some. Of course, once you are
there, you can try the local travel agencies
listed on this page, and they may or may not be
able to help (let me know if you find out).
Also, you could try taking public transportation,
but in most cities, that can be a real ordeal.
